President Ezra Taft Benson received visual evidence this week that his message concerning the Book of Mormon is getting through to the children of the Church.

He visited the Museum of Church History and Art on Oct. 16, and viewed many of the 6,500 drawings on display in the exhibit, "Through a Child's Eye - Scenes from the Book of Mormon."Children throughout the Church, ranging in ages from 5 to 12, were invited to illustrate their favorite story or scripture from the Book of Mormon. Three hundred of the most original and creative pieces were selected to hang in the museum. The remaining drawings are exhibited in a huge scrapbook, which President Benson thumbed through.

"Just imagine, all the work that these children have gone to," exclaimed President Benson, who was obviously pleased with what he saw. "I've never seen anything like this before. They've certainly gone to a lot of trouble.

"It is evidence," continued the prophet, "that the young people of the Church are getting the message concerning the Book of Mormon."

The children's exhibit continues through Jan. 16.

While at the museum, President Benson also viewed Book of Mormon paintings by Minerva Teichert. The exhibit, which ended the day of President Benson's visit, included more than 40 works on the Book of Mormon.

President Benson also greeted and shook hands with nine members of the Blazer B class of the Farmington (Utah) 8th Ward, who also were viewing the Book of Mormon artwork.
