Stakes were created in Bloomington, Utah, and Rexburg, Idaho, March 6.
Elder Russell M. Nelson of the Council of Twelve officiated in creation of the Rexburg Idaho College 4th Stake. There are now four stakes at Ricks College.Elder Vaughn J. Featherstone of the First Quorum of the Seventy presided in creation of the Bloomington Utah Stake from the St. George Utah Stake, making five stakes in the St. George area.
In addition, stake presidencies have been reorganized in Brigham City, Utah; Provo and St. George, Utah; Memphis, Tenn., and Rexburg, Idaho.

BLOOMINGTON UTAH STAKE: (March 6, 1988) Created by division of the St. George Utah Stake. President - Steven H. Peterson, 44, school district superintendent, former stake president's counselor, stake executive secretary, and bishop. Counselors - Patric Robert Lewis, 40, partner in meat business, former bishop, ward Young Men president, and Sunday School teacher; H. Clark Christensen, 44, retail clothing business owner, former high councilor, bishop's counselor, elders quorum president, and ward Young Men president.
REXBURG IDAHO COLLEGE 4TH WARD: (March 6, 1988) Created by division of the Rexburg Idaho College 1st, 2nd and 3rd stakes. President - Jay L. Risenmay, 54, Ricks College Counseling Center director, former stake president's counselor, assistant high priests group leader, and teachers quorum adviser. Counselors - Karl Lee Edwards, 45, director of learning assistance at Ricks College, former bishop; Harold Brent Hill, 38, certified public accountant, former stake executive secretary, stake Sunday School president's counselor, bishop and counselor.

BRIGHAM CITY UTAH STAKE: (Dec. 13, 1987) President - Reed W. Hadfield, 57, attorney, former stake president's counselor, bishop and counselor. Counselors - Perry Earl Shumway, 54, manufacturing engineer for aerospace contractor, former stake president's counselor, bishop, high councilor, and Aaronic Priesthood MIA president; Thomas Michael Matthews, 40, physician, former high councilor, stake missionary, ward executive secretary, and elders quorum president.
BYU 2ND STAKE (Feb. 21, 1988) President - E. Dale LeBaron, 53, assistant professor of Church history at BYU, former president of South Africa Johannesburg Mission in 1976-79, high councilor, and bishop. Counselors - Robert L. Millet, 40, associate professor of ancient scripture at BYU, former stake president's counselor, high councilor, and bishop; Richard L. Hill, 36, attorney, former bishop and counselor, elders quorum president and ward Young Men president.
BYU 13TH STAKE: (Feb. 21, 1988) President - Dee Floyd Andersen, retained. Counselors - Craig William Schow, 36, BYU business administrator, former stake president's counselor, high councilor, bishop's counselor, and Aaronic Priesthood leader; Leonard Roland Moon, 50, U.S. Air Force colonel and professor of aerospace studies at BYU, former high councilor and bishop.
BYU 16TH STAKE: (Feb. 21, 1988) President - Donald J. Butler, 41, vice president of paint and glass business, former stake president's counselor, elders quorum president, bishop and counselor, and priests quorum adviser. Counselors - Norman Nelson White, 56, missionary services director in Church Missionary Department, former president of California Sacramento Mission in 1984-87; Warren R. Nielsen, 49, assistant administrative vice president at BYU, former regional representative, stake president and counselor, and high councilor.
KAISERSLAUTERN GERMANY SERVICEMEN'S STAKE: (Feb. 21, 1988) President - Frank Wessman Clawson, 40 U.S. Air Force pilot, former stake president's counselor, high councilor, stake mission president, and bishop's counselor. Counselors - Joseph C. Irvine, 30, U.S. Defense Department counterintelligence agent, former stake president's counselor, stake clerk and branch president; Richard Ellis Brown, 41, laboratory manager at U.S. Army medical center, former high councilor, bishop, branch president, and seminary teacher.
MEMPHIS TENNESSEE STAKE: (Feb. 28, 1988) President - Donald B. Spencer, 60, buyer for farm implement manufacturer, former stake president's counselor, high councilor, bishop and branch president. Counselors - Lawrence R. Clark, 36, director of management systems for hotel chain, former stake Young Men president, bishop and counselor, ward clerk and priests quorum adviser; Robert G. McBride, 31, owner of medical service company, former stake mission president, stake Young Men president, bishop's counselor, and elders quorum president.
REXBURG IDAHO COLLEGE 3RD STAKE: (March 6, 1988) President - Charles Moses Grant, retained. Counselors Mack Garner Shirley, retained; Brent John Moss, 44, attorney and magistrate judge, former bishop and counselor, elders quorum president, and Young Men president.
ST. GEORGE UTAH STAKE: (March 6, 1988) President - Ross Nelson Taylor, 50, high school principal, former stake president's counselor, high councilor, stake mission president, and bishop. Counselor - Francis L. Leany, 63, interior design business owner, former high councilor, bishop's counselor, and ward executive secreetary; James Andrew McArthur, 43 recreational vehicle resort owner, former high councilor, stake mission president's counselor, bishop, and branch president.
