The American Folk Dance Ensemble at BYU will participate in the 1988 Olympics here, not as athletes but as participants in the Sept. 17 opening ceremonies. The Seoul Olympic Organizing Committee invited 12 dance companies from six continents to show the spirit of folk art of the world in a seven-minute segment at the official opening in the main stadium. Of this group, BYU is the only representative from North America. Forty BYU dancers and musicians will precede the Olympics with a tour of the Philippines, Hong Kong, China and Taiwan. Twenty-one will remain to perform in the Olympics and in the '88 Seoul International Folk Dance Festival.
