- The last session of the general conference ended with many in the congregration moved to tears. Following President Ezra Taft Benson's touching address, delivered by President Thomas S. Monson and directed to the children of the Church, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir appropriately ended the session with the hymn, "I Am a Child of God."

The congregation joined the choir in singing the chorus after both the second and third verses.The session was conducted by President Thomas S. Monson, second counselor in the First Presidency. The invocation was given by Elder Douglas J. Martin, a member of the Second Quorum of the Seventy; Elder Waldo P. Call, also a member of the Second Quorum of the Seventy, offered the benediction.
