- The Tabernacle Choir's "Music and the Spoken Word" broadcast set the spiritual tone for the Sunday morning session of conference, while crowds outside congregated on the lawn, enjoying the cool autumn weather and bright skies.
After the session had ended, President Ezra Taft Benson, leaving the stand with his counselors, turned to the Tabernacle Choir, which provided the music for the session, and smiled at choir members, saying "God bless you!"President Thomas S. Monson conducted the session. Prayers were offered by Elder Derek A. Cuthbert of the First Quorum of the Seventy and Elder F. Melvin Hammond of the Second Quorum of the Seventy.
