A fireside commemorating the 160th anniversary of the restoration of the Aaronic Priesthood and the Melchizedek Priesthood is scheduled for Sunday, May 7, in the Tabernacle on Temple Square.

The fireside, to begin at 6 p.m. MDT, will be telecast live via satellite to more than 2,500 meetinghouses in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. The telecast will be closed captioned for the benefit of the hearing impaired. The fireside will be rebroadcast at 8 p.m. over the Church satellite network and on KBYU-TV, Channel 11.

Speakers at the fireside will be President Thomas S. Monson, second counselor in the First Presidency; Elder Boyd K. Packer of the Council of the Twelve; and Elder Robert B. Harbertson of the Second Quorum of the Seventy. A fathers and sons chorus will sing.

"All male members of the Church who are 12 years of age and older are invited to attend the fireside," said President Howard W. Hunter in a letter to priesthood leaders. Especially invited, he continued, are bearers of the Melchizedek Priesthood and all young men of Aaronic Priesthood age, their fathers and their adult priesthood leaders.

President Hunter also said ward and stake leaders should plan appropriate activities to commemorate the priesthood restoration.
