A new one-hour patriotic program, "An American Tribute," featuring the Tabernacle Choir and hosted by television and motion picture star John Schneider, will air in 70 percent of U.S. television markets in July.

"An American Tribute" goes from "sea to shining sea" with footage of the diversity and unique characteristics of America, producer Margaret Smoot said."The program is a visual canvas and musical drama of America's people and history, featuring the best-loved songs of America sung by the world-famous choir," Sister Smoot said.

Songs for the program were taped during a live concert in the Salt Lake Tabernacle May 16 and 18.

Host Schneider is well known to audiences for his role in the television series "Dukes of Hazzard" and for his participation as co-chairman in the Children's Miracle Network Telethon.

In Utah and other portions of the Mountain West, the program can be seen over KSL Television July 3 at 7 p.m. and July 4 at noon. Viewers in others areas should check local listings.
