Sister Flora Amussen Benson, wife of President Ezra Taft Benson, underwent surgery at LDS Hospital Wednesday afternoon, March 8, to repair a broken hip after she fell in her home about 5:30 that morning.

Sister Benson "had a good night and is resting comfortably," Church spokesman Don LeFevre reported Thursday, March 9. Her condition was listed as satisfactory. After Sister Benson was taken to the hospital, President Benson spent about 12 hours at his wife's side.

Doctors expect Sister Benson to remain hospitalized about 10 days before continuing her convalescence at home.
