The calling of one more mission president has been announced by the First Presidency. The new president and his wife will begin their assignment about July 1.
Joseph Fielding McConkie, 48, assigned to the Scotland Edinburgh Mission; member of the Sunset Heights 7th Ward, Orem Utah Sunset Heights Stake; stake president, former stake president's counselor, high councilor, bishop and LDS chaplain; served in the North British/Scottish Irish Mission; professor of religion at BYU; received bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees from BYU; born in Salt Lake City, Utah, a son of Bruce Redd and Amelia Smith McConkie; married Brenda Pearl Kempton; nine children. She is a Primary teacher, former stake Primary president's counselor, stake MIA board member, ward Primary president and counselor, Relief Society teacher, chorister and organist; born in Safford, Ariz., a daughter of E. Clyde and Pearl Payne Kempton.
