To meet the needs of its growing faculty, Ricks College announced it will begin construction of a one-story office building to house the English Department, reported Rex Bennion, administrative vice president.

The building will consist of 25 faculty offices, an office for the division chairman, a waiting area, restrooms, a conference room, and work and storage rooms. A corridor will connect the new structure with its neighbor to the north, the Smith Building. To construct the 6,000-square-foot building, the college will reduce the existing parking area south of the Smith Building. Bennion expects the building to be completed Oct. 6.

"We've made some changes on the roof design to speed up the completion," Bennion said.

School starts in late August, and some doubling-up of instructors' offices will take place until the new building is completed.
