When Gen. Albert Sidney Johnston led an army to the Great Salt Lake Territory in 1856 to put down a supposed "Mormon rebellion," he was not warmly received.

When Johnston's modern-day descendant, Dr. William Mansfield, came the week of Oct. 16, it was under more amiable circumstances. Mansfield, associate dean of the Dental School at the University of Louisville, Ky., came to interview prospective dental students. While here, he fulfilled a dream of singing with the Tabernacle Choir. He received that chance at the choir rehearsal on Oct. 19, according to a friend, Dr. AlDean Washburn, a Provo, Utah, dentist and Church member. Mansfield is not a member of the Church.
