"The purpose of this earth life is to prepare those who are obedient and faithful in keeping the commandments of the Lord to come back and dwell in His presence and there be crowned as His sons and daughters. We were in His presence before this mortal existence began," Elder Joseph Fielding Smith wrote in a 1948 priesthood lesson about Section 93.
In Church History and Modern Revelation, 2:160-61, Elder Smith further wrote: "The Lord has revealed Himself and the fulness of His gospel and commanded us to diligently study it, so that we may know how to worship and what to worship."Without the revelations given to the Church and the constant guidance of the Holy Ghost, we could not worship Him in spirit and in truth. It is essential, therefore, that we study these principles of the Gospel in the spirit of humility and prayer. If we will do this then we will in due time receive His fulness."
