A colorful poster-sized Old Testament chart, a reprint of maps published in the Church News on Jan. 6 and 13, is now available as a special offer to our readers.
Given free with each new Church News subscription, the chart is printed on tear-resistant paper and points out significant Old Testament stories and their locations. On one side is a map where Old Testament stories took place in the Palestine area; on the other side is a map where biblical stories took place in other Old Testament lands. As a study guide, it is invaluable for Gospel Doctrine teachers and students alike, and is a great family home evening teaching tool for parents as well."This map is great because it brings life and meaning to the stories of the Old Testament," said Vern Brazell, Sunday School president of the Holladay 12th Ward, Salt Lake Mount Olympus North Stake. "Since we've never been to Israel, it helps us see more clearly not only where the stories occurred, but why they happened the way they did. It makes us more familiar with the events, brings us closer to the characters involved, and gives us a personal grasp on the scriptures."
He and his wife, Luauna, use the map while reading the Old Testament together, and find it to be valuable in deepening their understanding and putting the stories in eternal perspective.
"When you consider that we have a royal heritage, and that we are connected to those people of the Bible," said Sister Brazell, "the map is so useful to get a better picture of those people, and how our promises and prophecies will be fulfilled."
For all who wish to broaden their knowledge of the Old Testament, the Church News map is an invaluable addition to every classroom and home. In addition to receiving the map free with each new subscription, it may also be obtained for $2.25 at the Church News office, 30 E. First South, in Salt Lake City, or by mail for $3.
