A goal to send as many copies of the Book of Mormon into the world as there were in the original printing of the book - 5,000 copies - was exceeded by members of the Crescent 16th Ward, Sandy Utah Crescent Stake, in 1989.

Bishop David K. Swenson challenged ward members to place the copies in response to the directive of President Ezra Taft Benson in the October 1988 general conference. After a special sacrament meeting dedicated to the project, more than 80 families joined the project. By midyear, more than 2,500 copies had been placed, and by year's end, the goal had been exceeded with a total of 5,643 books.
