A new head basketball coach has been named at BYU-Hawaii, the university's administration announced March 14.

Ken Wagner, former head basketball coach at Dixie College in St. George, Utah, succeeds Dr. Charles Hess, who resigned to pursue other career interests. Hess coached the BYU-Hawaii Seasiders for three seasons, during which time he compiled a 52-45 record and a district championship. Twice he received league Coach of the Year honors.Wagner was BYU-Hawaii's assistant basketball coach during the 1984-85 season, and returns to Hawaii after five years at Dixie. His record there includes four league championships, 11 tournament championships, and a Top 20 national junior college ranking last year.
