A warm, personable atmosphere, almost like a chat around a hearth, enveloped priesthood meeting as leaders spoke on subjects such as purity, following the prophet, love and family.
A noticeable hush spread across the Tabernacle as President Gordon B. Hinckley, who conducted the session, shared his thoughts and feelings of serving as counselor in two First Presidencies. The address of President Thomas S. Monson was punctuated with humor and poignancy as he emphasized the importance of the points contained in a new Church booklet for youth. The invocation was given by Elder Dean L. Larsen of the Presidency of the Seventy, and the benediction given by Elder Francis M. Gibbons of the Seventy. Music was performed by the men of the combined Mormon Youth Chorus and Mormon Tabernacle Choir, conducted by Robert C. Bowden and Jerold D. Ottley.
