BYU names new dean and two associate deans

BYU Pres. Rex E. Lee has named Erlend D. "Pete" Peterson dean of Admissions and Records, and Jeffrey M. Tanner and Ford L. Stevenson as associate deans. All three are residents of Orem, Utah.

The appointments are effective immediately. Peterson succeeds Robert W. Spencer, who has returned to full-time teaching and research in the College of Education.Peterson has worked in the Admissions and Records Office since 1966, becoming an assistant dean in 1973 and an associate dean in 1985. He has been on leave from BYU the past two and a half years while serving as president of the Norway Oslo Mission.

Tanner and Stevenson have been in the Admissions and Records Office since 1973. Tanner has been an assistant and associate dean, and Stevenson has served since 1977 as director of student financial aid.
