In his April 1980 general conference address, Elder LeGrand Richards of the Council of the Twelve described a conversation he had with a minister about Nebuchadnezzar' dream and the establishment of the Lord's latter-day kingdom on the earth.
The minister told Elder Richards, "You can't have a kingdom without a king, and you don't have a king, so you don't have a kingdom."Elder Richards cited Dan. 7:13, which tells of "one like the Son of man who came with the clouds of heaven , and came to the Ancient of days." Unto him, said Elder Richards, was given the kingdom. (Dan. 7:13.)
He said Daniel foresaw that "the saints of the most High shall . . . possess the kingdom for ever." (Dan. 7:18.)
Elder Richards asked the conference congregation in the Tabernacle, "Now, who are the Saints of the Most High God?" and then answered, "All you wonderful people who are listening in today, and you who are bearing the burden along with these 30,000 missionaries scattered all over this world to help prepare this kingdom for the coming of the great King."
