KSL-Television, Channel 5, was commended by the Utah Alcohol Policy Coalition for a recent decision to discontinue accepting beer and wine advertising on local programming.

The commendation was made Aug. 13 by George Van Komen, coalition chairman, who said KSL "set an example that we would like to see other stations follow."The decision was not publicized by the station itself, but the coaltion sent out news releases commending the decision.

KSL is part of Bonneville International Corp., a Church-owned company. Station officials emphasized that the decision was their own and was not forced upon them by the station owner.
