The First Presidency has announced seven new Relief Society board members:
Carol L. Clark, Yalecrest 1st Ward, Salt Lake Bonneville Stake; administrative assistant to the general presidency of the Relief Society; former member of Relief Society general board and stake Young Women presidency; received doctorate from University of Utah; director of Utah Women's Business Development; former specialist in consumer education to Utah attorney general and special assistant for education and communication to Utah governor, and consultant.
Mary Ellen Edmunds, Mapleton 9th Ward, Mapleton Utah Stake; served as proselyting missionary in Southern Far East Mission, health missionary in Philippines Manila and Indonesia Jakarta missions; former Relief Society general board member, stake missionary, and assistant to the president of Missionary Home in Salt Lake City; received bachelor's degree in nursing from BYU; employed as associate director of training at Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah.
Carol Lee Hawkins, Edgemont 10th Ward, Provo Utah North Edgemont Stake; former stake Primary and Relief Society board member and teacher; received bachelor's and master's degrees from BYU; chair, BYU Women's Conference, and part-time administrator; married John P. Hawkins, four children.
Kate L. Kirkham, Springville 1st Ward, Springville Utah Stake; former stake Relief Society president and member of the Evaluation Correlation Committee; received doctorate in organizational behavior from Union of Experimenting Colleges and Universities, master's degree in human resource development from George Washington University, and bachelor's degree in sociology from University of Utah; associate professor of organizational behavior and associate director of the Women's Research Institute at BYU.
Carol Burdett Thomas, Holladay 28th Ward, Salt Lake Holladay South Stake; former stake Young Women president, stake Relief Society president, ward Primary president, member of ward Relief Society presidency, Relief Society teacher and Young Women adviser; married D. Ray Thomas; seven children.
Barbara Thompson, Hunter 2nd Ward, Salt Lake Hunter Stake; served in the Germany Hamburg Mission; former counselor in ward Relief Society presidency, ward Young Women president, Stake Relief Society board member, and region Young Special Interest leader; received master's degree in social work from University of Utah, bachelor's degree in social work from BYU; director of Utah Division of Family Services.
MarJean Clark Wilcox, Parleys 5th Ward, Salt Lake Parleys Stake; served in Eastern Canadian Mission, former ward and stake Young Women president, stake Primary president, ward Relief Society president and counselor in stake Relief Society presidency; received bachelor's degree from University of Utah; vice president of the Utah Symphony Guild and co-author and director of outreach program; married Blaine H. Wilcox; six children.
