To share in the sisterhood of the Church, LDS women will meet together Saturday, Sept. 29, for the annual General Women's Meeting.

A member of the First Presidency will address the meeting, which will originate from the Tabernacle on Temple Square, and will be telecast to some 3,000 meetinghouses in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, Haiti, the West Indies and the Dominican Republic. Also speaking will be Elaine L. Jack, Relief Society general president; Ardeth G. Kapp, Young Women general president; and Betty Jo N. Jepsen, first counselor in the Primary general presidency.

The meeting will be telecast over the Church's satellite network from 6 to 7:30 p.m. (MDT). It will be rebroadcast at 8 p.m. on the satellite network and over KBYU-TV. The program will be closed-captioned for the hearing impaired and will be broadcast in 11 languages.

All member and non-member women, young women and girls 10 years of age and older are invited to attend the meeting.

"I feel a bond with these sisters and hope that they will feel a bond with each other," Sister Jack said in an interview with the Church News. "The more women I meet and hear from, the more I realize the goodness of their lives and the depth of their testimonies. Women of the Church have consciously chosen to follow the gospel of Jesus Christ and we want to honor these women for the goodness of their lives."

Sister Kapp said, "This annual Women's Meeting is a time for spiritual renewal and recommitment to the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is a time for increased understanding of the importance of living the standards of the Church and keeping God's commandments. When young women receive clear direction and are supported by parents, leaders and peers, they will be able to withstand the increasing challenges of our day. This Women's Meeting helps provide that opportunity."

Primary Gen. Pres. Michaelene P. Grassli said, "We really hope by being included in this meeting that the 10 and 11-year-old girls can feel the significance of the role they have in life and see their potential for opportunities that await them. They can feel part of the great sisterhood of women in the Church at this meeting."
