To young women at the Idaho Day Centennial celebrations, Ardeth G. Kapp emphasized the importance of measuring up to their potential now and becoming righteous women while still in their youth.

Sister Kapp, Young Women general president, spoke June 28, during the "Salute to Young Women" portion of the Idaho Day Centennial. She told some 750 young women assembled in the Franklin Idaho Stake center that it was time to "celebrate our earth life, our pre-earth life, and the anticipation of the future."She explained that since people today are in the midst of the last days, their choices carry 10 times the ramifications as choices made by those of earlier generations. She quoted President Spencer W. Kimball: "To be a righteous woman is a glorious thing during any age, but to be a righteous woman during the winding up scenes on this earth before the second coming of our Savior is an especially noble calling because a righteous woman's influence can be 10-fold what it might be in more tranquil times."

"The decision you're making is important to all those before you and all those who will follow," Sister Kapp said.

"May you take the hard classes," she challenged. "Be serious about your education . . . so when your view is heard you will be a powerful influence for righteousness. But your preparation is now. How old do you have to be to develop the good within you?"

She reminded the youths to remember not only who they are, but also "whose we are."
