Two missionaries, who have been missing since Jan. 3 when a boat in which they were passengers capsized on Guatemala's Lake Atitlan, are presumed drowned, Church spokesman Don DeLevre said Jan. 8.
Elder Adam Leach, 19, Laguna Beach, Calif., and Brian Bartholomew, 20, Modesto, Calif., of the Guatemala Guatemala City North Mission were returning from across the lake on an errand to pick up documents for a baptism when a strong wind caused the boat to capsize. Also missing is a Guatemalan hired to ferry the missionaries across the lake.
A third missionary, Elder Erick Lee Caten, McMinnville, Tenn., swam ashore after the boat capsized.
