Within the text of Zechariah's poetic language are several prophecies concerning the second coming of the Savior. These prophecies were so important that the Lord alluded to them in certain sections of the Doctrine and Covenants. (See Zech. 12:3-4; 14:1-4; and D&C 45:48-53; 133:20, 35.)
Among the prophecies of Zechariah are:- The Savior would make a triumphal entry into Jerusalem. (Zech. 9:9; see Matt. 21:1-11.)
- The Messiah would "speak peace unto the heathen" and His dominion is represented as being "from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth." (Zech. 9:10.)
- Allegories of the good shepherd and foolish shepherds are given to illustrate the Lord's relations with His people. (Zech. 11:1-17.)
- The Lord is going to save Jerusalem and will appear to the Jews. (Zech. 12:1-14.)
