- In the Sunday morning session, fuchsia- and black-attired members of the Tabernacle Choir sang with feeling and precision numbers ranging from an oratorio selection, "See What Love," by Mendelssohn, to the simple melody of "Precious Savior, Dear Redeemer," by Palmer. The choir was conducted by Jerold D. Ottley and accompanied by John Longhurst.
A highlight of the session was the attendance of President Ezra Taft Benson. He waved as he entered, and again when he left as the congregation sang "We Thank Thee, O God, for a Prophet." Members in the congregation waved gently and lovingly in response.President Gordon B. Hinckley conducted the session. Poignant remarks by the counselors in the First Presidency, and powerful testimonies by other General Authorities created a memorable session. Many of the speakers referred to the day of national thankgiving for the end of the Persian Gulf war.
The invocation was offered by Elder Ted E. Brewerton of the Seventy, and the benediction by Presiding Bishop Robert D. Hales.
