President and Sister Ezra Taft Benson celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary Sept. 10 reflecting on memorable experiences with family and friends.

Family members enjoyed an anniversary cake together and then visited some of the former Benson residences and other meaningful landmarks to the family.President Benson married Flora Smith Amussen on Sept. 10, 1926, in the Salt Lake Temple.

They began courting before President Benson received his mission call to Great Britain in 1921 and resumed courting upon his return. However, young Flora Amussen accepted a mission call to the Hawaiian Islands. President Benson waited to marry her after she completed her mission.

They are the parents of two sons and four daughters, have 34 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren.

Over the years President Benson has been known for the kindness he has shown to his wife and speaks of the many years of glorious married life they have had together.

Sister Benson has always been at his side, giving him support in his Church and professional assignments.
