Spencer J. Palmer, professor of comparative world religions at BYU, has contributed his Asian and World Religion Collection of more than 5,000 volumes to the Harold B. Lee Library.

The collection contains valuable items on religion, history and culture in the major countries of Asia. A core feature of the collection is 1,500 rare and important volumes printed in the Korean language, which are impossible to obtain today, according to Sterling J. Albrecht, BYU university librarian.Palmer recently returned from South Korea, where he served as the president of the Seoul Korea Temple. He has written many articles and books dealing with Korean history and culture.

In 1985, the South Korean consul general, Kei-yul Moon, traveled to the United States to honor Palmer for 30 years of research in Korean history, culture and religion.
