Veteran theater, film and television actor and Church member Dean Jagger, 87, died Tuesday, Feb. 5 at his home here.

Jagger won an Academy Award for best supporting actor in 1949 for his role in "Twelve O'Clock High." But to Church members he is best known for his portrayal of Brigham Young in the 1940 movie, "Brigham Young - Frontiersman."In July 1972, Jagger joined the Church and was a member of the Santa Monica 2nd Ward, Los Angeles California Santa Monica Stake. In June 1975 he donated his papers, which included his awards, theatrical files, correspondence and five volumes of scrapbooks, to the Harold B. Lee Library at BYU.
