The first six of the 1992 mission presidents have been called by the First Presidency. The new presidents and their wives will be assigned to a specific mission later and will assume their positions around July 1. They are:
Anthony I. Bentley Jr., 54, East Mill Creek 12th Ward, Salt Lake East Millcreek North Stake; high priest group leader, former stake Sunday School assistant, teachers quorum adviser, Cubmaster, stake mission president, Young Men's president; served in Uruguayan Mission, 1957-1960; attorney; received bachelor's and master's degrees from BYU and law degree from University of Utah; born in El Paso, Texas, a son of Anthony Ivins and Ella Farnsworth Bentley; married Wendy Josinette Whiting; eight children. She is a stake Primary president, former Cub Scout den mother, nursery leader, Primary counselor, Relief Society teacher, Young Women president and counselor, ward chorister, Relief Society counselor; received bachelor's degree from BYU; born in Minneapolis, Minn., a daughter of Frank M. and Josinette Cook Whiting.
David A. Burton, 48, Eagle Gate 2nd Ward, Salt Lake Eagle Gate Stake; temple sealer, former stake president's counselor, stake executive secretary, high councilor, high priest group instructor, institute director; served in Bavarian (Germany) Mission, 1962-1965; senior vice president of Intermountain Health Care, Inc.; attended BYU, received medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and did post- M.D. work at Harvard Medical School; born in Montpelier, Idaho, a son of Alma Pexton and Clea Rich Morgan Burton; married Flora Beth Benson; four children. She is a temple ordinance worker, former Relief Society teacher, Young Women president, Primary president, stake Primary counselor, coordinator of area dance festival/youth conference in European Mission, 1964-65; attended University of Utah, Berlitz Language School and BYU; born in Salt Lake City, Utah, a daughter of President Ezra Taft Benson and Flora Smith Amussen Benson. Charles W. Dahlquist II, 44, Granite 11th Ward, Sandy Utah Granite South Stake; stake president, former Scoutmaster, Young Men president, temple ordinance worker, stake president's counselor, high councilor, bishop's counselor, seminary teacher; served in Swiss Mission, 1966-68; attorney; received bachelor's degree from BYU and law degree from University of Utah; born in Provo, Utah, a son of C. Winston and Afton Ahlander Dahlquist; married Zella "B" Darley; five children. She is a Sunday School teacher, former ward and stake choir director, Relief Society teacher and counselor, Young Women adviser and counselor, Primary counselor, bishop and stake president's secretary; received bachelor's degree from BYU; born in Boise, Idaho, a daughter of Carl Thomas and Zella Bassett Darley. Teofilo Puertas, 53, Los Jardines Ward, Trujillo Peru North Stake; regional representative, former mission president's counselor, stake president, district president and secretary, branch president; Church Educational System regional coordinator; attended College of San Ramon; born in Uchucmarca, Peru, a son of Celso and Francisca Vega Puertas; married Maria Martos; five children. She is a Sunday School teacher, former Relief Society president, secretary and teacher, Primary president, Young Women president; born in Uchucmarca, Peru, a daughter of Francisco and Elisa Rojas Martos. Remus Gastaya Villarete, 42, Consolacion Ward, Mandaue Philippines Stake; regional representative, former stake president, district president and counselor, branch president and counselor, high priests group leader, elders quorum president, Sunday School counselor; regional real estate manager for Presiding Bishopric's Office; received bachelor's degree from University of Negros Occidental; born in Bacolod City, Philippines, a son of Hirmilo Cordova and Elena Gasataya Garina Villarete; married Yvonne Cawit Lim; four children. She is a Sunday School teacher, former stake Relief Society president and counselor, district Young Women president, district Relief Society president, branch Relief Society president, seminary teacher; received bachelor's degree from Riverside College of Nursing; born in Molocaboc, Philippines, a daughter of Carmelino Mahilum and Alicia Lim Lucot Cawit. Victor L. Walch, 57, Burbank 1st Ward, Los Angeles California North Hollywood Stake; Sunday School teacher, former stake president, high councilor, bishop and counselor, stake Young Men president, stake and ward priesthood executive secretary, seminary teacher; attorney; received associate degree from Eastern Oregon State College, bachelor's from University of Utah and law degree from George Washington University; born in LaGrande, Ore., a son of Charles Lloyd and Lila Bean Walch; married Carole Marie Foster; nine children. She is a Relief Society counselor, former Primary chorister, Sunday School teacher, stake Relief Society welfare leader, ward Young Women counselor, visiting teacher, Cub Scout committee member; bookkeeper; attended San Jose State College; born in Bakersfield, Calif., a daughter of Ralph Clinton and Gladys Minnie Fedde Foster.
