The BYU men's soccer team, with 11 returned missionaries on its 18-player roster, won the National Collegiate Club Soccer Association championship Nov. 20 in Phoenix, Ariz.
BYU finished second on the women's side of the tournament.BYU's men, coached by Rich Egan, edged Weber State University 2-1 in overtime in the title contest to claim the five-foot-tall championship trophy.
The women, coached by Jennifer Rockwood, lost 3-1 to Arizona in the championship game.
It was the first time BYU has participated in the 16-team tournament, according to men's team director Tom Skousen, because in previous years the finals have been on Sunday.
