The question of the week in the Oct. 23 Church News issue cited Ether 12:36-38 as a passage of scripture read by Joseph Smith prior to his leaving for Carthage, Ill., and his martyrdom. (See D&C 135:4.)
According to A Comprehensive History of the Church by Elder B.H. Roberts, the passage noted was read by Hyrum Smith before he and Joseph left Nauvoo for Carthage.
