A major earthquake devastated not only buildings in the Kobe/Osaka area of Japan, but also the lives of the people there. Many members of the Church were among the homeless.
A short time after the quake struck, Church leaders had mobilized a relief effort, inset photo, that included establishment of a temporary distribution center for emergency supplies in the Kobe Ward meetinghouse. See story on page 3.
