Church leaders have begun the search for a new BYU president to succeed Pres. Rex. E. Lee, who asked in June to be released for health reasons.
President Gordon B. Hinckley, who heads BYU's board of trustees, has appointed Elder L. Tom Perry of the Quorum of the Twelve to chair the search committee. Also serving on the committee are two other members of the Twelve, Elder M. Russell Ballard and Elder Henry B. Eyring, who is Church commissioner of education; Presiding Bishop Merrill J.
