- The melodious words "We ever pray for thee, our prophet dear" sung by an Aaronic Priesthood choir from the Springville Utah Region provided a moving conclusion to the Saturday afternoon session. The musical supplication seemed to express what was in the hearts of many members after President Gordon B. Hinckley was sustained as prophet in the morning session.

President James E. Faust conducted the session, his first time since being called as second counselor in the First Presidency. During the session, Elder Henry B. Eyring gave his first conference address as a member of the Council of the Twelve.

The Aaronic Priesthood choir also sang "As Zion's Youth in Latter Days" and "Hope of Israel." Elder Ted E. Brewerton and Elder David E. Sorensen of the Seventy offered the prayers.
