Harold Riley Johnson, 69, of the Fairview 3rd Ward, Mount Pleasant Utah Stake, called as president of the Apia Samoa Temple, succeeding Pres. Percy Syddall. Pres. Johnson's wife, Lola Ann Heaps Johnson, will serve as temple matron. Pres. Johnson is a former counselor in the Manti Temple presidency, stake president's counselor, bishop and bishop's counselor. A retired educator, he is a former president of the Church College of Samoa. He received a bachelor's degree from Whittier College in California, a master's degree from Los Angeles State College and a Ph.D. in education from the University of Utah. He was born in East Los Angeles, Calif., to Anton W. and Clara Riley Johnson. Sister Johnson served as Relief Society president's counselor, Relief Society teacher, Primary president's counselor and Primary teacher. She was born in Los Angeles, Calif., to Rulon A. and Lola Fern Coolbear Heaps.
