Leah Eudora Widtsoe Durham, wife of Elder G. Homer Durham who served in the Presidency of the Seventy from 1981-1985, died March 6 in Salt Lake City. Sister Durham, 82, was the daughter of Elder John A. Widtsoe, who served in the Council of the Twelve from 1921-1952.
She married Elder Durham June 20, 1936, in the Salt Lake Temple, and accompanied him on worldwide assignments after he was called to the First Quorum of the Seventy in 1977. Elder Durham died Jan. 10, 1985.
- Oakley S. Evans, 82, former president of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and ZCMI, died March 21, 1995, in a St. George convalescent center.
He served as president of the choir from 1975 to 1984, and as president of ZCMI from 1973 to 1983. During the time he was choir president, the choir performed in Bicentennial celebrations in Washington D.C., New York City, Philadelphia and Boston. The choir toured in Japan, Korea, Brazil and the Northwestern United States while he was president.
