President Gordon B. Hinckley kept a busy pace in the days before and after the weekend of general conference.

On the Thursday before conference, Sept. 28, he addressed a meeting of the Association of Mormon Counselors and Psychotherapists (AMCAP) and was presented the group's Distinguished Service to Humanity Award.On Monday morning after general conference, Oct. 2, President Hinckley dedicated two new parks in downtown Salt Lake City in a joint ceremony under the auspices of the city and the Church.

At noon on Oct. 2, he attended and offered remarks at a celebration to help launch the Huntsman Cancer Institute at the University of Utah.
