President Howard W. Hunter has created the Mexico City Mexico Contreras stake - the 2,000th stake in the Church - which includes the Contreras, Cuicuilco, Hidalgo, Independencia, and San Pedro Martir 1st and 2nd wards, and the Padierna Branch. (Please see Dec. 17, 1994, Church News.)
Elder John B. Dickson of the Seventy has created the San Lorenzo Paraguay Stake, which includes the Anahi, Capiata, Laurelty, Limpio, Lugue, and San Lorenzo wards, and the Bella Vista, Itaugua, Mboily, Piguete Cue, and Posta Leiva branches.The Quetzaltenango Guatemala El Bosque Stake, which includes the Central Totonicapan, Chiax, Quetzaltenango 5th and 8th, and the Totonicapan wards, and the Cantel, Juchanep, Salcaja, and San Cristobal Totonicapan branches was created by Elder Charles Didier of the Seventy.
Elder John K. Carmack of the Seventy has created the Taichung Taiwan Stake, which includes the Chang Hua, Chung Hsing, Feng Yuan, and Taichung 1st, 2nd, and 3rd wards, and Pu Li, Tou Liu, and Yuan Lin branches.
Elsewhere, stakes were reorganized in Paraguay and Tonga, and in Arizona, Idaho, Maryland, Nevada and Utah.

MEXICO CITY MEXICO CONTRERAS STAKE: (Dec. 11, 1994) Created from the Mexico City Mexico Tlalpan, Mexico City Mexico Ermita, and Mexico City Mexico Iztapalapa stakes. SAN LORENZO PARAGUAY STAKE: (Nov. 20, 1994) Created from the Fernando El Mora Paraguay, Asuncion Paraguay, and Asuncion Paraguay North stakes. President - Jorge Daniel Colina Araujo, 34, physician, former stake president and counselor, and bishop's counselor, married Liliana del Carmen Marecos Ruiz. QUETZALTENANGO GUATEMALA EL BOSQUE STAKE: (Aug. 18, 1994) Created from the Quetzaltenango Guatemala, and Quetzaltenango Guatemala West stakes. President - Melvin Enrique Recinos Diaz, 45, municipal employee, former bishop and counselor, and executive secretary, married Aura Corina Enriquez Escobar. Counselors - Alex Moroni Perez Ulin, 25, Deseret Industries managing administrator, former high councilor, stake clerk, and branch president, married Claudia Lorena Dardon Carrillo de Perez; Jose Maria Tzic Tzul, 31, former high councilor, bishop, and branch president and counselor, married Maria Juvencia Amezquita Villatoro.
TAICHUNG TAIWAN STAKE: (Dec. 18, 1994) Created from the Taichung Taiwan district. President - Wen-Tsung Chou, 39, president of Hi Con, former mission president's counselor, stake president's counselor, district president, high councilor, and bishop, married Li-Chu-Hwa Li.
