The text for the 1995 Sunday School gospel doctrine course of study is the New Testament. Following are excerpts from the New Testament Study Guide, which should be made available to all students in Sunday School gospel doctrine classes. The study guide, which may be ordered through meetinghouse librarians or Sunday School presidencies, is available at Church distribution centers for 5 cents each; order #31392.

Lesson 1 - (General discussion of the New Testament) What are some ways we can seek the Spirit while studying the scriptures individually and while discussing them in class?

Lesson 2 - (John 1:1-18) How can we express gratitude to the Lord for creating this earth?

Lesson 21 - (Matt. 21-23; John 12) Why do you think it is important that we love God? How can we show our love for Him?

Lesson 22 - (Matt. 24-25; Joseph Smith - Matthew) What does the parable of the ten virgins teach about preparing for the Second Coming? What is the central message of the parable of the talents? What did the Lord teach in Matt. 25:31-46 about how we can be ready for the Day of Judgment?

Lesson 23 - (Luke 22:1-38; John 13-15) What are the purposes of the sacrament? What did Jesus teach His disciples about love?

Lesson 24 - (John 16-17) What did Jesus teach His disciples about the Holy Ghost? How can we come to know the Father and the Son?

Lesson 25 - (Matt. 26:36-27:66; Luke 22:39-23:56) What can Jesus' experience in Gethsemane teach us about submitting to God's will, enduring, praying, receiving strength and showing compassion while suffering?

Lesson 26 - (John 20-21; Luke 24) What blessings are ours because of Jesus' resurrection?

Lesson 27 - (Acts 1-5) What can we learn from the Apostles' experiences to help us better fulfill our duties and callings?

Lesson 28 - (Acts 6-9) Why did Saul change from a persecutor of the Saints to one of the greatest servants of the Lord?

Lesson 29 - (Acts 10:1-15; 35) What limited the vision of the Jewish Christians regarding who should receive gospel blessings? What might limit our own vision today?

Lesson 30 - (Acts 15:36-18:22; 1 and 2 Thessalonians) What can the accounts of Paul's missionary travels teach us about sharing the gospel today?

Lesson 31 - (Acts 18:23-21:17; Galatians) What did Paul teach the Galatians about loving their neighbors?

Lesson 32 - (1 Cor. 1-11) How can we become more unified? Why do some Church members rely more on the wisdom of men than on revelation through the Spirit?

Lesson 33 - (1 Cor. 12-16; 2 Corinthians) Why does the Lord provide gifts of the Spirit? Why would all the gifts that Paul cited in 1 Cor. 13:1-3 be as nothing without charity?

Lesson 34 - (Romans) How can we show that we are not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ?

Lesson 35 - (Hebrews) How have the examples of faith cited by Paul in Heb. 11:4-31 strengthened your faith?

Lesson 36 - (Acts 21:17-28:31) What can we learn from Paul's life, particularly the part that is recorded in Acts 21-28, about dealing with adversity? What keeps people from accepting the divinity of Jesus Christ?

Lesson 37 - (Ephesians) How are good works related to grace and faith? Why are living apostles and prophets essential to the true Church?

Lesson 38 - (Philippians, Colossians, Philemon) How has Paul's testimony, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me," helped you in times of trial?

Lesson 39 - (1 and 2 Timothy; Titus) Why do you think the Lord has warned us against wearing costly apparel? How is the problem of being "ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth" evident in our day? (2 Tim. 3:7.)

Lesson 40 - (James) What can Joseph Smith's experience with James 1:5 teach us about pondering the scriptures? How did James define pure religion?

Lesson 41 - (1 and 2 Peter) What did Peter teach about how we can purify our hearts and souls? How did Peter suggest we respond to grief or suffering that comes wrongfully?

Lesson 42 - (1, 2, and 3 John; Jude) How can we come to feel and demonstrate greater love for each other? What must we do to have the love of God dwell in us?

Lesson 43 - (Revelation) What does Rev. 3:20 teach about the Lord? How have you found this to be true?
