Within five months, there may be more members of the Church living outside the United States than in the United States, President Gordon B. Hinckley said Sunday morning.
Speaking in the third general session, the prophet explained: "Our statisticians tell me that if the present trend [in Church growth] continues, then some time in February of 1996, just a few months from now, there will be more members of the Church outside the United States than in the United States."A crossover of that line is a wonderfully significant thing. It represents the fruit of a tremendous outreach. The God of Heaven, whose servants we are, never intended that this should be a narrow, parochial work."
