New stake presidencies

A new stake has been created in Sweden by President Thomas S. Monson, first counselor in the First Presidency. New stakes have also been created in Brazil, Peru and Utah.

The new Swedish stake, the Malmoe Sweden Stake, includes the Halmstad, Helsingborg, Lund, Malmo and Limhamn wards, and the Hassleholm, Kalmar, Karlskrona, Kristianstad and Vaexjoe branches.The Orem Utah Cascade Stake, which includes the Cascade 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th and Center wards, has been created by Elder Ben B. Banks of the Seventy.

The Santa Rita Brazil Stake, which includes the Bayeux, Bayeux Centro, Dos Municipios, Joao Pessoa, Santa Rita and Tibiri wards, has been created by Elder W. Craig Zwick of the Seventy.

The Ventanilla Peru Stake, which includes the Angamos, Arenas, Naval, Pedro Beltran and Ventanilla wards, and the Los Alamos and Mi Peru branches, has been created by Elder Jay E. Jensen of the Seventy.

Elsewhere, stakes have been reorganized in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Denmark and Uruguay, and in California, Idaho and Utah.

MALMOE SWEDEN STAKE: (Aug. 18, 1996) Created from the Malmoe Sweden District. President - C. Urban Girhammar, 51, senior lecturer in food chemistry at University of Kalmar; wife, Gunnel Elisabeth Martinson Girhammar. Counselors - Claus Wrang, 47, traffic schoolteacher; wife, Monica Kerstin Linnea Jonsson Wrang. P. Arnold Ahlstrom, 35, self-employed sales trainer, consultant and writer; wife, Ingrid Monica Elisabeth Andersson Ahlstrom.

OREM UTAH CASCADE STAKE: (Sept. 8, 1996) Created from the Orem Utah Stake. President - Richard B. Brady, 43, vice president of Sawvel and Associates Inc.; wife, Janice Manwaring Brady. Counselors - Q. Val Hale, 39, assistant athletic director at BYU; wife, Nancy Allred Hale. Gordon C. Smith, 49, marketing manager for Novell Inc.; wife, Madeline "June" Smith Smith.

SANTA RITA BRAZIL STAKE: (Sept. 1, 1996) Created from the Joao Pessoa Brazil and Joao Pessoa Brazil Rangel stakes. President - Jose Joel Alves Fernandes, 35, Church area office coordinator; wife, Maristela Aglian Silva de Fernandes. Counselors - Joao Cordeiro Guedes, 35, secretary at medical facility; wife, Wsmerei N. de Guedes. Luciano Da Silva, 33, technician; wife, Maria de Fatima Pereira Souza de Silva.

VENTANILLA PERU STAKE: (Sept. 8, 1996) Created from the Ventanilla Peru District.
