Elder M. Russell Ballard and his wife, Barbara, share a moment with a few of the students who attended a special morning fireside in Cedar City, Utah, Jan. 3. More than 1,200 seminary and institute students attended. Elder Ballard spoke about Nephi's desires to know the mysteries of God (1 Ne. 2:16) and explained that the same desires took Joseph Smith to the sacred grove. He challenged the students to have similar desires, and told them that as they act upon those desires they will start to see deep meaning in the scriptures. He continued that as they keep the commandments, they will be free of sin and will have power to repent and serve the Lord worthily.
