Holly Peterson, Steve Deming and Eric Nyborg each won a National Junior College Athletic Association track and field championship recently competing for Ricks College. Holly, a freshman from the Green River 4th Ward, Green River Wyoming Stake, won the 10,000-meter run in 38:00.57. Steve, a sophomore from the Bethany Ward, Cedar Mill Oregon Stake, captured his second national title in the pole vault at 16 feet, 3 inches. He won his first championship in 1992 before serving in the Spain Las Palmas Mission. Eric, a sophomore from the Salmon 3rd Ward, Salmon Idaho Stake, won the decathlon with 7,015 points. All three athletes earned junior college all-America status because of their achievements.
