Elder W. Eugene Hansen of the Presidency of the Seventy
- Noting that the priesthood session was being viewed by brethren in many countries, President Gordon B. Hinckley remarked that it was "tremendously significant in light of the fact that today is the birthday of the Church. The little stone that was cut out of the mountain without hands is rolling forward to fill the earth."
Several General Authorities turned in their seats to watch the BYU Combined Men's Choir as it performed. Elder Dallin H. Oaks and Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, former presidents of BYU, along with Elder Merrill J. Bateman, current president, beamed with pleasure as they greeted directors Mack J. Wilberg and Ronald J. Staheli and choir members after the meeting.
Underscoring a theme of President Thomas S. Monson's address, organist Clay Christiansen played a powerful arrangement of "We Are All Enlisted" as postlude.
The invocation was given by Elder Joe J. Christensen of the Presidency of the Seventy and the benediction by Elder Andrew W. Peterson of the Seventy.
