The First Presidency has called two new mission presidents. They and their assignments are:
- Robert M. Cowan, 46, New Zealand Wellington Mission; Enoggera Ward, Brisbane Australia Stake; former mission president's counselor, stake president and counselor, stake mission president and stake missionary, bishop, and missionary in the Australia Perth Mission; publishing company general manager; attended the University of Queensland; born in Adelaide, Australia, to Douglas and Edith Janet Attrill McDermott Cowan; married Jennifer Jeffrey, three children. She is former stake seminary supervisor, stake Young Women president, stake and ward Relief Society president's counselor, Primary and seminary teacher, teacher development director, and activities committee chairman; received bachelor's degree in education from the University of Queensland; born in Townsville, Australia, to John Douglas and Lois Gay Tucker Jeffrey.- Gene A. Pratt, 63, New York Rochester Mission; Laramie 1st Ward, Laramie Wyoming Stake; former stake president and missionary with his wife in the England London Mission; former associate professor of botany at the University of Wyoming; received bachelor's and master's degrees in botany from BYU and doctorate in botany-cytogenetics from the University of Texas; born in Washington, D.C., to Elmer W. and Genevieve Robinson Pratt; married Kay Barney, nine children. She is a former missionary with her husband in the England London Mission, stake missionary, and activities committee member; born in Salt Lake City to Kline Porter and Doris Lyle Nielsen Barney.
