The General Relief Society meeting, which will originate from the Tabernacle on Temple Square, will be held Saturday, Sept. 28, at 6 p.m. (MDT). The gathering will be televised live via satellite to about 3,000 meetinghouses in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean. It will be rebroadcast on the satellite system and on KBYU-TV, Provo, Utah, at 8 p.m.
Speakers at the meeting will be President James E. Faust, second counselor in the First Presidency, and members of the Relief Society general presidency - Elaine L. Jack and her counselors, Chieko N. Okazaki and Aileen H. Clyde.Music will be provided by more than 300 women of the combined choirs from Brigham Young University, directed by Tracy Turek and accompanied by Tabernacle organist Bonnie Goodliffe.
The Relief Society, the oldest and largest women's organization in the world, was established in 1842 to help the sick, the poor, and others in need of compassionate service.
