New stake presidencies

Two new stakes, one in Tonga and one in Utah, have been created.

The Nuku`alofa Tonga Mu`a Stake, which includes the Hoi, Makaunga, Mu`a 1st, and 2nd, Nukuleka, and Talafo`ou wards, and the Alaki Branch, has been created by Elder Lindsay Thomas Dil, an area authority.The Orem Utah Lakeridge North Stake, which includes the Lakeridge 1st, 2nd, 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th wards, has been created by President Boyd K. Packer, Acting President of the Quorum of the Twelve.

New stakes

NUKU`ALOFA TONGA MU`A STAKE: (April 4, 1996) Created from the Nuku`alofa Tonga East, and Nuku`alofa Tonga Halaliku Stakes. President - J. William Harris, 59, secretary of ministry, labor commerce industries for Tonga government; wife, M. Fane Nee Fale Harris. Counselors - Vakameilalo Tu`ifua, 46, farmer and town officer; wife, Tupou Falekakala Hale Tu`ifua. Sione Lavelua, 29, representative for South Pacific Pork Company & M.B.S. Exports; wife, Melania Tuima Lavelua.

OREM UTAH LAKERIDGE NORTH STAKE: (June 23, 1996) Created from the Orem Utah Lakeridge Stake. President - Spencer F. Mack, 41, proprietor and financial planner for Miller, Wade & Mack; wife, Jane Ann Neubert Mack. Counselors - Gaylord K. Swim, 47, president of Swim Investment Management; wife, Lauralyn Bankhead Swim. Howard E. Gurney, 45, real estate appraiser; wife, Janet Kathryn Winder Gurney.
