When Elder Jeremy Meier gets a chance in his busy missionary schedule, he reads the Church News. Secretary in the office of the Georgia Macon Mission, Elder Meier has been serving for little more than a year now and finds the Church newspaper a positive uplift.
"I like seeing what's going on in the Church, like where the prophet's been and things like that," the young elder from Salt Lake City said. "It's good because we don't hear too much, being missionaries, but the Church News keeps us up-to-date."Elder Meier, like other missionaries serving throughout the world, receives the publication through his mission office. In particular, he enjoys the "Missionary Moments" on the back page. Not surprising, considering his current calling.
"The Missionary Moments are positive stories that give you hope and encouragement. They inspire us and make us feel positive," he noted.
In addition, Elder Meier uses quotes from the Church News for district and zone conference lessons, and sacrament meeting talks. He frequently turns to quotes from President Gordon B. Hinckley printed monthly on page 2. Having access to the Church News, he added, makes such material "easy to find."
