When Jennifer Harmer was a little girl, she used to see her mother read the Church News. One section her mother turned to regularly was "People in the Church" to "see if she knew anyone," Sister Harmer related.
Today, Sister Harmer, a member of the Endicott Ward, Owego New York Stake, continues to read the Church News. She said "People in the Church" inspires her as to "what I can do and what other people have done."Continuing, Sister Harmer said the weekly publication helps her "find out more about what's going on in the Church, which is nice living out here." Six months ago, the Utah native married Greg Harmer in the Bountiful Utah Temple. The young couple moved to New York soon after because of Brother Harmer's profession and immediately began their Church News subscription.
Sister Harmer explained that as a member of the ward Young Women presidency, she uses the publication to help her prepare lessons and Church talks. Her husband, who is elders quorum president, uses the newspaper for similar purposes. In addition, the Harmers use it for family home evenings. After the October general conference, they read the special conference edition of the Church News and "did a summary of what we learned."
There are many like the Harmers throughout the Church. To help them start the new year in a positive way, give them the gift of the Church News by using the coupon on this page.
