Eight new mission presidents have been called by the First Presidency. The mission presidents and their wives will begin their service about July 1. Their assignments will be announced later. The new mission presidents are:
- Rex J. Allen, 42, Kaysville 6th Ward, Kaysville Utah Stake; Scoutmaster; former stake executive secretary, high councilor, stake mission president, bishop and counselor, Young Men president, and missionary in Switzerland and France; president of Allen Communication; received bachelor's degree in communications from BYU, and master's degree in instructional systems design and doctorate in organizational communication, both from Florida State University; born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Wallace Fred and Alice Louise Simmonds Allen; married Nancy Newey, seven children. She is a Primary worker; former member of stake Relief Society presidency, stake nursery leader, ward Young Women president and adviser, member of Primary and Relief Society presidency, Primary and Relief Society teacher, and Primary music leader; received bachelor's degree in early childhood education from BYU; born in Ogden, Utah, to Robert L. and Kathleen Grant Newey.- Larry Bodhaine, 60, Mountain View 3rd Ward, West Jordan Utah Mountain View Stake; assistant high priests group leader; former stake president, high councilor, stake mission president's counselor, stake missionary, bishop and counselor, and high priests group leader; director of technical services for Geneva Pipe; received bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Colorado State University; born in Denver, Colo., to Frank Allen and Doris Alyeene Brown Davies Bodhaine; married RaeLene Forsberg, seven children. She is a member of the Relief Society homemaking committee; former temple ordinance worker, ward Young Women president and counselor, Relief Society president, Primary president's counselor, Sunday School teacher, and nursery leader; attended Denver Metro Community College and Riverside Community College; born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Herman and Bertha Cazier Wilson Forsberg.
- Kenneth J. Mason, 63, Kirkland 1st Ward, Kirkland Washington Stake; temple sealer and assistant high priests group leader; former regional representative, stake president, family history center director, bishop and counselor, branch president's counselor, and elders quorum president; former supervisor for The Boeing Company; received bachelor's degree in geology from BYU, master's degree in management and supervision from Central Michigan University, and graduated from Aerospace Research Pilot School where he received training as a test pilot and astronaut; born in Aurora, Utah, to William G. and Inez Marie Curfew Mason; married Elnora Staples, seven children. She is a family history librarian; former Relief Society president and counselor, family records extraction director, Relief Society and Primary teacher, and activities committee cultural arts specialist; born in Inverury, Utah, to Elve and Delilah Washburn Staples.
- Kevin E. Monson, 42, Fountain Valley 1st Ward, Huntington Beach California Stake; bishop; former high councilor, stake Young Men president, bishop's counselor, high priests group leader, and missionary in Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Texas; attorney; received bachelor's degree in political science and juris doctorate from BYU; born in Culver City, Calif., to Eldon Eugene and L. Jeanne Ellett Parks Monson; married Barbara Sue Condie, four children. She is a ward Relief Society president's counselor; former stake Primary president's counselor, ward Young Women president, activities committee member, and Cub Scout leader; received bachelor's degree in home and family education from BYU; born in Pomona, Calif., to James and June Palmer Condie.
- Derk W. Pelton, 38, Anderson Mill Ward, Austin Texas Stake; bishop; former high councilor, bishop and counselor, executive secretary, branch president, Young Men president, Varsity Scout coach, and missionary in the Mexico Merida Mission; technical solution manager for IBM; received bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from BYU; born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Walter Allan and Joanne Watson Pelton; married Lori Goulding, four children. She is Beehive adviser; former stake girls camp specialist, Young Women president and counselor, Primary and Relief Society presidents' counselor, Relief Society compassionate service leader, and branch auxiliary leader; received bachelor's degree in business management from BYU and attended Golden Gate University; born in Nampa, Idaho, to Willis Larel and Darlene Taylor Goulding.
- Miguel F. Rojas, 41, Los Jardines Ward, Lima Peru Las Flores Stake; mission president's counselor; former regional representative, stake president, bishop, branch president, and missionary in the Peru Arequipa Mission; treasurer in the finance department of the Presiding Bishopric Office; received accounting degree from Peruvian Canadian Academy and master's degree in business administration from National University Federico Villarreal; born in Jauja, Peru, to Miguel Victor Sandoval and Susana Porras Alvarez Rojas; married Rosa Briones, four children. She is stake choir director; former stake Primary and Young Women president, Sunday School teacher, Relief Society teacher, and teacher development director; attended National Indoamerican College and Superior Institute of Technology; born in Cajamarca, Peru, to Angel Machuca and Carlota Escalante Cotrina de Briones.
- Robert B. Schwartz, 58, Rexburg 6th Ward, Rexburg Idaho East Stake; high councilor; former high councilor, member of stake mission presidency, bishop and counselor, ward mission leader, branch president's counselor, and missionary in the North German Mission; professor of German at Ricks College; received bachelor's degree in German from Utah State University, master's degree in German from Michigan State University, and attended Goethe Institute on a Fulbright Scholarship; born in Preston, Idaho, to Gottfried and Irene Beutler Schwartz; married Barbara Koontz, six children. She is a former stake missionary, ward Primary president's counselor and teacher, nursery leader, Sunday School and Relief Society teacher, member of activities committee, Primary and Relief Society chorister, ward chorister, Scout advancement chairman, and Blazer leader; received associate's degree in elementary education from Ricks College and bachelor's degree in elementary education from Utah State University; born in Dillon, Mont., to Sherman Ivan and Emma June Brown Craven Koontz.
- E. Elwood Taylor, 63, Running Springs Branch, Highland California Stake; branch president's counselor; former high councilor, stake missionary, bishop's counselor, high priests group leader, name extractor, and missionary in Central America; insurance broker; attended BYU; born in Colonia Juarez, Mexico, to Loren Leroy and Lillian Hatch Taylor; married Barbara Decker, five children. She is branch Relief Society president's counselor; former stake Relief Society board member, ward Young Women president, Relief Society president's counselor, family history librarian and instructor, and seminary teacher; attended BYU; born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Leslie Robert and Norma Howick Decker.
